Sore throats often result from a build-up of bacteria in your mouth (or throat). The bacteria can cause inflammation and swelling, which is exactly what you don’t want when you have a sore throat. The most important thing you can do to help your sore throat now is to eat foods that will help to replenish your body’s natural resources and fight off any bacteria that may be causing your soreness. Foods that are best for sore throats include: antibiotic-free chicken soup, unflavored yogurt, fresh fruit, especially watermelon and cantaloupe, and fresh vegetables.

Drink lots of water

Along with foods that are best for fighting off bacteria, you also want to be sure to drink lots of water. Drinking enough water to replace what you’ve lost while dealing with your sore throat can help flush out any bacteria and reduce any swelling in your throat. Try to drink at least one glass of water whenever you’re feeling a little sore. Water not only helps to keep your throat hydrated, but it also can help to provide soothing relief for your throat.

Eat ice cream

You’re probably wondering, really? Is ice cream good for a sore throat? Menthol, the main compound in the essential oil of vanilla, is one of the best home remedies for sore throat. This compound has anti-inflammatory properties that ease the pain of a sore throat. Additionally, menthol also has expectorant properties that help to clear your throat. Along with menthol, vanilla ice cream has many other compounds that promote good health.

These include minerals like zinc, calcium, potassium, and iron, vitamins like B-6, B-12, and A, and phenolic compounds like coumaroylquinic GF, which are responsible for the unique flavor and aroma of vanilla. Vanilla ice cream also has sugar and emulsifying agents, which help heal a sore throat. Sugar helps to heal your throat and promote the growth of healthy tissue. Emulsifying agents in ice cream help to reduce inflammation by decreasing redness and swelling of your throat

Take Turmeric Curcumin

Turmeric has antibacterial properties that make it very effective for treating sore throats. It can also help to reduce the inflammation caused by bacterial infections. You can take it as a supplement or make a grinder paste and consume it with water. You can also take it as a paste when you have a sore throat. It can help to reduce the pain and increase the secretion of mucous in your throat. You can also consume its natural supplement, curcumin. This is the active ingredient in turmeric that has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It can help to treat the inflammation and bacteria of your throat. It can also help to prevent recurrent throat infections.

Get a humidifier

Humidifiers are one of the best ways to keep your home from feeling too dry. By keeping the air around you slightly moist, you’ll be less likely to develop a sore throat because you’ll be less likely to breathe the bacteria-laden air. Keep your humidifier running whenever you’re sick so that you can keep the air in your home at a comfortable, bacteria-reducing level. You don’t want your home to be too moist, as that could make you sicker, but you also don’t want it too dry, as that could make you SORE! Make sure to change the water in your humidifier every few days to keep the water fresh and bacteria-free.
