MAY BOOK CLUB: “The Fault In Our Stars”

May’s Literally, Darling Book Club pick is “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green! If you are one of the three people on this earth who still hasn’t read John Green’s latest novel, welcome. For the rest of us who are on our second or third read-through, it’s the perfect time to dive back into the story of Augustus and Hazel before the movie is released on June 6, 2014.

“The Fault in Our Stars” is narrated by 16-year-old Hazel, a cancer patient and “America’s Next Top Model” aficionado. During a support group meeting, which her parents force her to attend, Hazel meets Augustus Waters. The rest, they say, is history.

I feel like “The Fault in Our Stars” isn’t the type of book that you can just type up discussion questions for and then tackle with a highlighter and pad of sticky notes. I don’t really want to talk about how Hazel and Gus relate to their cancer or about John Green’s experience as a chaplain in a children’s hospital and how that shapes this novel. Instead, here are a couple bullet points we’ll focus our discussion on at the end of the month
