5 Jackets Every Girl Needs For Spring

By Abigail Whittington

As if finding a cute outfit in the morning wasn’t hard enough, it’s even harder when the spring weather goes from Sahara heat in the morning to monsoon rains in the afternoon. Most people don’t even think about jackets in the spring because they are so excited to shed some layers after bundling up all winter long, but the only way to combat the unpredictable weather that lays ahead of you is to layer up. Even if you do have confidence in sunshine like our good friend Sister Maria, you may still be faced with rain or wind. Because life does enjoy throwing a good struggle our way every now and then.

These five jackets will keep you comfortable and cute all spring long.

1. Army Green Utility Jacket

The military trend is still in full force this season, as we saw on the S/S ‘15 runways, so this jacket (Forever 21, $42.90) is the perfect versatile layering piece. “Military” or nah, don’t let that shy you away for fear of looking too masculine. Girly this jacket up by pairing it with florals, graphic tees, and light sweaters for the spring.

2. Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are a classic; give your favorite summer sundress its first outing of the year by tossing a denim jacket over the top. This jacket (Forever 21, $29.90) also looks great with skinny cargo pants. Be wary though: while your favorite Instagrammers might be rocking the denim-on-denim trend, it’s not easy to pull off! Don’t pair it with jeans—denim on denim is never a good look.

3. Rain Jacket

Everyone knows April showers bring May flowers, right? When it’s pouring out, sometimes rainboots and an umbrella just won’t cut it, so stay dry this spring by investing in a quality rain jacket (Target, $40). Go for a classic one with drawstrings at the waist to emphasize your feminine figure or if you prefer something more trendy, try a transparent rain jacket so everyone can see your #OOTD even in the rain. Our pick is affordable, fun and pretty… and, let’s be honest, it definitely wins over borrowing your dad’s mac for the millionth time.

4. Floral Bomber Jacket

Florals are always in for spring; florals on a bomber jacket take the classic sporty look and give it a feminine edge. This jacket (Forever 21, $29.90) works great as a standalone statement to an outfit, or a striped shirt underneath would make a bigger impact for those who are bold enough to mix prints.

5. Light-Colored Moto Jacket

Black moto jackets are a classic go-to in the fall, but perhaps a bit doomy gloomy for this fair season. A light colored version, however, brightens up any outfit for spring. Throw this white moto jacket (Forever 21, $37.90) over any basic black top and pair with a statement necklace, boyfriend jeans, and some pumps for an easy morning outfit that has you looking polished for a spring day around town.
