Halestorm Is The Hard Rock Music You NEED In Your Life

I go through phases with music, depending on my mood. Sometimes it’s the moody tunes of Bear’s Den, the girl power mode of Kate Nash, or the current choice of Halestorm. But, the Halestorm phase had not ended yet, and I don’t know if it ever will.

Halestorm began in Pennsylvania in the late 1990s with siblings Elizabeth and Arejay Hale. Over time, the components of the group evolved to include their father and a variety of other musicians. Almost 20 years later, and with a newly released album in April 2015, this amazing group is still going strong.

Halestorm is technically defined as residing in the hard rock genre, but every one of their songs is diverse and a delight to listen to. There aren’t many groups whose music I can listen to for an entire album, but Halestorm joins the ranks of the chosen few. The vocal range of the lead singer, Lzzy Hale, is incredible and you will never feel like you’re listening to one long song when you choose their album.

“The Strange Case Of… ” is my fave Halestorm album, although there are segments from their other albums that I equally adore. My personal favorites absolutely are: “Daughters Of Darkness,” “You Call Me A Bitch Like It’s A Bad Thing,” “Familiar Taste Of Poison,” and “Mz. Hyde.” And seriously, with those track names, what’s not to love? But, the group routinely produces unexpectedly touching tracks, such as “Dear Daughter” and “Beautiful With You” that still have a bit of an edge but are much mellower than Halestorm’s typical music. A bit dark and angsty, and totally badass—Halestorm should forever hold a special place in your heart.
