Darling Wants, Literally Needs: July Beauty Round-Up

We’ve seen about a gazillion “lust lists” over the past few years, and here at Literally, Darling we know we can churn out a good ol’ listicle (and, hey, we also just have really good taste). So, naturally, it seemed appropriate that our fashion and beauty team should have a little platform to rave about the pieces and products that we’ve been really gosh-darn excited about of late; these are our darling little “wants” and our “literally needs.” Here’s our pick of this month’s pocket-money treats and absolute must-haves—try not to buy them all at once!

Floral Jacquard Short

These super-chic, universally flattering, subtly feminine shorts make my soul happy—and they’re on sale, so of course I’m blaming fate. Also, I cannot think of a better summer must-have; they’re perfect for those “day to night” looks that fashion magazines force down everyone’s necks as soon as daylight savings kicks in.

Aveeno Protect & Hydrate

Part lotion, part sunscreen, this product is exactly what it sounds like: perfect for protecting skin from UV rays while also hydrating skin that may be dried out from shaving or sun. If you want to simplify your skincare routine in the summer while incorporating extra sun protection, combination products like this are the key!

EOS lip balm

Literally EOS all year long. You can ask anyone I have them everywhere. They keep my lips smooth, soft, and they smell amazing. They have certain scents with SPF for extra protection or medication for when you have a summer cold. Did I mention they smell amazing? Just don’t leave them in your car they will melt.

Honey and Black Seed After Shave Smoothing Moisturizer

This has been my go-to lotion after shaving my legs this summer. With Shea and Cocoa butters, this lotion soothes and heavily moisturizers the skin after a shave. But I love how it leaves my legs feeling super silky and super shiny, so that I feel sexy while wearing my shorts and short dresses.

Steve Madden “Antler” Sandal

A stylish step up from your battered Rainbow flip flops or trusty Chacos, these sandals are subtle and unique. Also, they are hella comfortable!

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita

This lip pencil goes on super smooth and the color is much richer than your average lip crayon. It doesn’t dry out your lips, and its skinny size makes it easy to accurately apply. Plus, the color options are to die for. Bonus: You can get a set of two minis for free if you’re a Sephora beauty insider; it’s their current birthday gift!

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer

Who doesn’t want their face to smell like a Flinstone’s orange sherbet push up pop? This oil-free moisturizer leaves your face feeling hydrated and refreshed thanks to panax ginseng and coffee beans. Say goodbye to those pesky breakouts caused by heavier moisturizers. This lightweight cream revitalizes skin instantly and gives you that healthy glow you never knew you were missing.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara

As far as makeup counter mascaras go, this is the best of the best. At $24, it’s no drugstore bargain, but it’s worth every buck. The brush is ideal for upper and lower lashes, and the rounded tip allows for precision. It’s also ultra-lengthening and adds some volume. If you’re looking to splurge on a makeup product, this is worth the investment.

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray

One of my favorite things about the summer is getting to rock messy, beachy waves. It’s one of the few styles that my thin, flat hair can hold. This spray not only does a great job of adding volume and texture, but it also smells like summer in a bottle (think: coconut sunscreen) and it lasts throughout the day/night. It’s as simple as spray, scrunch, and go. Whether you use it to style your hair before the beach or as a quick fix after a day in the sun, this $9 spray is a summer must have.

Knit Shift Dress

You can’t really go wrong with a simple shift dress—especially if it’s from Target (and for only $20!). This one in particular is lightweight, versatile, and perfectly flowy. Throw on some sneakers and a hat to run errands comfortably or accessorize with jewelry and strappy sandals to rock your look into the night.

Wild At Heart T-shirt

I’m not usually a fan of buying t-shirts anymore, but I couldn’t resist this one that I happened across in Express. It’s a slub knit tee with panels of light semi-sheer crepe around the shirttail hem, and it’s delightful. Perfect for daringly dressing up or lounging about. I paired it with a black mini skirt, big jewelry, flats, and some bright red lipstick, and (not to toot my own horn) but I looked pretty fab. Check it out, it’s worth every penny! I might have also bought this one

MUFE’s AQUA BROW Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector

Sometimes no matter how much makeup setting spray you use, your eyebrows will still melt off your face on a steamy day or if you’re in the water. Never fear! Makeup Forever’s waterproof eyebrow gel is here to save the day. This stuff will NOT budge and requires some heavy duty makeup remover to get it off. It’s a bit pricey but a little goes a long way and won’t require touching up throughout the day. Worth every penny.
