I was scrolling through Spotify the other day and I came across their “Birth of Cool” playlist. It’s a good mix, and is enjoyable, but I felt like there were some obvious tracks missing. And some of the songs on their just don’t fit my fancy. So I made my own.
Why should you listen to my playlist instead, you ask yourself. Do you ever listen to a song and just get swept up along with the indescribable coolness of it? I’d like to introduce you to a playlist that traces the origin of cool, a playlist that is flawlessly awesome. You’ll put on this playlist while sitting in traffic, and blare it just a little louder because you know how much you’re impressing the people in the cars next to you. Bow down peasants—lower your radio volumes and make way for some perfectly timed Lou Reed.
Cool music is timeliness. Whether you’re down in the dumps or riding high on life, everyone needs some David Bowie. Allow these musicians to give you an education in class.
