You’ve probably seen a seemingly endless parade of health and beauty related articles in magazines or online that promote spring. No doubt, someone in your inner circle has picked up that best-selling Marie Kondo book, determined to “tidy-up.” But there’s something to be said about a season that embodies not just change, but rejuvenation and reawakening. Why not apply the same principles to your beauty and skincare regime? These health and beauty items are more than products; they’re treats!
Tata Harper x Elixir Vitae Eye Serum (Supernatural Collection)
$265
I’ve reviewed Tata Harper products before and I’ve yet to be disappointed with the results. Not only was I delighted to find this lovely gift in my mailbox, but I loved the clean, bright packaging, floral fragrance, and proactive ingredients. The all natural serum promises to “rapidly help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and wrinkles.” I know some of you may be saying, aren’t you a little young to be worrying about crow’s feet? Valid point, but if you’re a fan of the Korean skincare regime, you’ll know that you’re never too young to treat your skin as an extension of wellness and vitality. The ingredients listed are as follows:
- Acmella Extract
- Spanish Lavender
- Snowflake Bulb Extract
- Hibiscus Peptides
- Cedrus Atlantica Bark Extract
- Viniferin
- Cells of Sweet Iris
Henné Organics x Luxury Organic Lip Balm
$22
The more that I research and improve my knowledge of what actually goes into beauty products, the more I realize the importance of labels. It’s the main reason why I was attracted to this particular lip balm. The ingredients list for this organic and made-in-the-USA lip balm contains:
- Coconut Oil
- Beeswax
- Avocado Oil
- Shea Butter
- Coca Seed Butter
- Jojoba Seed Oil
- Vitamin E
Sometimes the easiest and cheapest lipstick or ChapStick promises quick action, but ultimately leaves you with negative results. This lip balm proved to be an effective substitute. Although the packaging may make neat-freaks a bit squeamish, (dipping your fingers again and again into the same miniature pot may not appeal to some consumers), this long-wearing product soothes dry lips.
Henné Organics x Rose Diamonds Lip Exfoliator
$24
The calendar may say spring, but Mother Nature sure isn’t ready to acknowledge the change in dates. And for those of us living in the Northeast, this means being constantly on watch for chapped lips. This lip exfoliator makes a perfect partner to the Luxury Organic Lip Balm. Ingredients include:
- Sugar
- Coconut Oil
- Organic Beeswax
- Shea Butter
- Organic Vanilla Flavor
- Jojoba Seed Oil
- Vitamin E
- Red Chokeberry
- Rose Oil
I also used this exfoliator before putting on lipstick or lip pencils in order to avoid a cracked finish.
Sun Potion Transformational Foods x Mucuna Pruriens Dopamine Bean
$36.99
Are you bored with tea? Tired of downing cup after cup of coffee and still feeling less than bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? This extract contains 15-percent L-DOPA, otherwise known as Levodopa. Levodopa acts as a chemical that produces dopamine. The powder is meant to do the following:
- Enhance Brain Function
- Elevate Mood & Refine the Senses
- Soothe the Nervous System
- Support Overall Well-being
The product can be added to hot or cold drinks. I added the suggested amount to both coffee and hot chocolate. The powder hardly interferes with the taste of the original drink.
Sun Potion Transformational Foods x Anandamide
$25.99
Can a powder really improve your mood? This mixture of raw cacao and tonic herbs is hand-crafted in small batches using organic ingredients. According to the company, this blend:
- may help treat stress-induced anxiety
- may promote a higher thought process
- act as a messenger molecule that plays a role in pain, depression, appetite, memory and fertility
Although I can’t say that the powder significantly elevated my thought process to a state of impeccable clarity, I was surprised to find that the effects were similar to drinking a strong cup of coffee.
La Tierra Sagrada Treatment x Hair Medicine
$18
This hair treatment is packed full of beneficial ingredients: coconut oil, babassu oil, meadowfoam seed oil, Vitamin E, rosemary, palo santo (a healing scent that provides protection and can help balance scalp irritations), and ayahuasca vine sacred plant essence. Think of this magical concoction as a hair miracle. Apply to dry or towel-dried hair, leave on for a minimum of 1 hour, and then shampoo out 1-2 times. Move on to using conditioner.
For someone with hard to manage hair, the Hair Medicine helped keep my hair smooth and less prone to tangle.
Nourish Organic x Argan Face Serum (Apricot + Rosehip)
$24.99
This nourishing serum acts as a great moisturizer. The company promises that its products are: chemical free and cruelty free, in addition to being free of parabens, petrochemicals, artificial fragrances or preservatives, silicones, sulfates, and synthetic dyes, just to name a few. Suitable for normal to dry skin, it doesn’t take much to moisturize your entire face. As someone who is always looking for healthier and more eco-conscious beauty and skincare choices, this face serum from Nourish Organic kept my complexion bright and clear.
