It’s Time for the World to Find Its Humanity Again

It is safe to say that we live in a very difficult environment within our world today.  You see it every time you just so happen to try and be a responsible adult and turn on the news station, and you instantly become victim to a parade of frightening headlines in bold and images to match.  Then you quickly change the channel, develop short amnesia to the horror that you just forced yourself to witness, and perhaps eat a pint of your favorite ice cream while you’re at it. (Hey, if the world is ending, why not eat that Chunky Monkey you had in your freezer for a month that you vowed you would not eat.)

Though, if you cannot will yourself to forget, due to empathy and compassion for your fellow mankind, you are left alone to sit and to wonder, where has humanity vanished too in the world today?  What was the turning point in our lifespan of the human race, where we abandoned the simple acts of being, simply human?  It is easy to point fingers at the easiest scapegoats rather than analyzing the truths about ourselves what we, as humans, contribute into the world that we allowed to happen.  Believe it or not, we all have gifts and super powers of our own that we use for either good or for evil.

Now before you get too excited, I am not talking about the ability to smash down brick walls with your bare fist, you are just going to have to leave that one for Hollywood, at least for now.  (Sorry, guys!)  I am talking about the gifts that we all share as human beings and that is: kindness, compassion, love, and giving of yourself.  Powerful, yet vulnerable acts that can fill the hearts and touch the lives of so many that you inflict along your path.  I say vulnerable, because giving of yourself leaves you exposed to rejection of your fellow mankind, and I promise you, that will happen. You will run into people who just simply refuse your help, and that will leave your confidence and heart shaken, but you must never let it stop you from fulfilling your duty as a human being.

The rule to this is accepting the fact that some people will not change, or at least not right now in their point of life.  Though, keeping a kind and open heart will slowly bring back humanity.  I know what you are thinking reader, ‘I am just one person, how can I make a difference?’, and I am here to tell you: one person is all that it takes.  Ever heard that saying, if you laugh, the world laughs with you?  Well, it is just like that in concept.  If you do one random act of kindness with a good heart that will affect a person’s life, a sort of chain reaction begins to form and inspires people to do their “one good deed,” and the willingness to extend helping hands.

See where I am going with this?

Kindness, love, compassion, and giving of yourself, does not have to be done in grand gestures.  It can be as simple as a compliment or a genuine smile to a stranger, for you never truly know where a person has been in their life or the type of day they are having.  And you giving of yourself to make someone else feel positive and important, that will open up new beginnings.  With the venomous images reported that we are victimized too by media, why not be a break in the clouds during a storm to allow some light to shine through?  We are the past.  We are the present.  We are the future.  Humans are not going anywhere, so it is time for us to start acting like humans.

It could be a start of a new wave of revolution, of the young and of the old, and not allow those who fight against us in our regain of humanity to prosper.  Help when you are needed.  Rise when you are called.  Be the better version of yourself that you were today.

So, what do you say?  Are you ready to take humanity back?
