Vacations are a fantastic way to escape from reality. We can travel anywhere that we want to go. We can experience different cultures, meet new people, and more. The only possible downside to traveling is the fact that we often cannot take along all family and friends. The people we would want to share experiences with the most. To share with them your experiences, here travel souvenir ideas your friends and family will love!
Cultural Treasures and Keepsakes
Are you traveling abroad on your vacation? If you’re going to places that your friends and family may never experience, you may want to focus on artisan crafts as souvenirs. This can be anything from handmade jewelry to artwork.
If you want to give it more significance, you could spend a little time talking to the artist about their craft. Was it something they learned through generations or is there a special meaning behind the stone that they used? Once you know the story, your family will be more delighted by the gift.
Local Clothing
There are things that people wear in other countries that may not be easily attainable back home. Even if they are something you can buy locally, it still may hold more value coming from the original country that they were created in. These make ideal souvenirs for some people. Remember, they do not have to wear the Lotus Shoes, but it will give them a piece of your vacation that they can hold onto.
Local Treats and Snacks
Many countries have snacks and other foods that they are well-known for serving. If you have a “foodie” family member or friend, what better way to show them a taste of some far-away land? Staying a little closer to home? No problem, you can still choose a favorite local snack from the U.S. as well!
Beauty Products
In every area around the world, some women want to be more beautiful. This makes beauty products a hot item if you are traveling somewhere that is well known for a specific type of product or scent. It doesn’t have to be anything big, you can opt for just a lavender-scented bath bar from the Mediterranean.
Alcoholic Beverages
Did you know that you can bring some alcohol from other countries home with you? This means you can bring home an exotic wine or some other adult beverage for your friends and family to enjoy. This could make your homecoming a lot more enjoyable as you sit around talking about your travels!
- Please Note: Due to restrictions by TSA (Transportation Security Administration), you will need to follow specific rules if you want to board a plane with adult beverages. These rules limit the amount, how they are packaged, and more.
Exotic Spices
Spices from other areas are always a delight to sample. It may be a curry blend or the Chinese Five Spice mixture, which can change the flavor of any food you add it to. If you have someone you care for that loves to cook, they may enjoy getting to experiment.
If you want to make it even more special, you could try to learn how to use that spice in a traditional recipe where you are vacationing. Then you can prepare it for your friends and family when you get home.
Traditional Souvenirs
Some things never go out of style. For this reason, custom keychains, Christmas ornaments, postcards, and similar items are on the list. These things can show where you’ve been on your travels. It will enable your family and friends to have a piece of it that they can hold onto as well.
When traveling on vacation, we never truly want to escape everyone back home. Buying souvenirs for your family and friends is a great way to feel as though you are keeping them close. Every area that you visit will have unique items to choose from. However, there is no single “right” idea for everyone on your list. We say, “with a little creative thinking, you can bring home a piece of your adventures to share with everyone.”
