Time is precious, but given how fast-paced life is nowadays, it’s easy to become wrapped up with work, home life, and other things. You may even reach a point where you feel like you never get a moment to yourself.
If this sounds familiar, you may want to consider implementing some changes to your day-to-day routine and creating more time for self-care. Here are four ideas to help you get started.
Say no more often
If you spend much of your time trying to please everyone else and doing things that you don’t particularly want to do, it may be time for a change. That is not to say you can’t continue to be kind and helpful, but if you feel that you are being taken advantage of due to your accommodating nature, start saying no more often.
The more you do, the more confidence you will gain, and the more time you will have to do the things you want to do.
Hire a cleaner
We are all too familiar with how long it takes to clean and tidy our homes – particularly if you have children. It can feel never-ending sometimes, so – if your budget allows – why not hire a cleaner? Having someone to come in once or twice a week could save you lots of time and make home life far less stressful too.
If this isn’t an option, you could always have a deep clean carried out a few times a year, so you only have to deal with surface-level stuff in the interim. Many companies also offer customizable carpet cleaning services, so instead of hiring a machine and spending hours doing it yourself, you can have professionals do it for you.
Ask for help
It may not be in your nature to ask for help, but doing so once in a while could free up lots of your time. If your parents live nearby, you could ask if they could spend a bit more time with the kids or have them for a sleepover once in a while.
Friends will probably be eager to help you out if they think you are struggling to manage your time, and it’s always worth asking work colleagues to assist if you feel that things are becoming a little overwhelming. Asking for help isn’t something you should be ashamed of, so don’t feel guilty about it.
Be realistic about what’s important
One of the best ways to create more time for yourself is to decide what’s important and what isn’t. Write a list of everything you want to accomplish and rank it in order of priority. If the things on the bottom of the list don’t get done, is it really that big of a deal?
Take some time out whenever you need it, and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get everything done. Time is a valuable commodity, so don’t waste it.
