Only Wear Clothes that Make You Feel Fabulous

One of the quickest ways to establish and boost confidence is through the clothes you wear. Whether you love wearing plus size maxi dresses or you’re more of jeans and tee kind of girl, building confidence through clothing is a great place to start.

In order to create a wardrobe that boosts your confidence, you will need to shop for clothing that fits you exceptionally well. Prioritize dresses that hug your curves, jeans that are comfortable and flattering and statement pieces like a bold blazer that turn any outfit into a fierce look. And don’t be afraid to take risks with your style. When they pay off, your confidence soars.

Create a Mantra

Have you ever heard of a mantra? A mantra is a saying that you develop that helps to give you that extra boost of confidence you need when you’re feeling anxious, down or insecure. Mantras are powerful and effective, as they can help remind you of your goals and who you are.

For example, if you are struggling with your body image and your goal is to become more confident in your body and appearance, your mantra could be, “My body is worthy and beautiful. I am strong and powerful.” By reciting these mantras to yourself, you establish a narrative that your mind turns into your truth — essentially.

Practice Positive Affirmations

If you love the idea of having a mantra that you can say in the moment to boost your confidence, you’re going to be thrilled about positive affirmations. As with a mantra, positive affirmations are statements that put you in a positive mindset. While you usually recite a mantra in the moment, positive affirmations are more routine.

Develop a list of affirmations that make you feel good and also put you on track to reach your goals, and recite them every morning before you start your day. Some positive affirmations you could build your very own list around are “I am patient. I am worthy. I am healthy. I practice gratitude. I love my body.” The goal of positive affirmations is to help you build and establish confidence by taking control of your narrative.

Take Risks

While taking risks can cause anxiety, risk-taking is also a great way to build confidence in yourself. Let’s say you’re heading to the beach soon, and you usually stick to wearing plus size swimwear that’s more conservative. Try wearing a bold two-piece that makes you feel like a bombshell. Once you get over the initial anxiety and fear you may have, you are going to feel so good wearing your new bikini. Taking a risk is also putting a lot of trust in yourself, which means you’re giving yourself permission to be fearlessly you.

Be the Star of a Photoshoot

Getting in front of the camera takes a lot of confidence. Whether you have it or not, a photoshoot will bring it out of you. Whether you recruit a friend to take photos of you, hire a professional photographer or set up a tripod for your phone and do a solo photo, this is going to be a valuable experience for your confidence. Build a mood board to get photoshoot outfit ideas so that you feel confident in front of the camera.

Build a Network of Inspiring Friends

Boosting your confidence is easier if you have a group of like-minded friends who are constantly there to encourage and support you. Whether you create a group of friends you hang out with in person or you assemble a digital group of women you look to for support, these groups are so important to have when you are on your confidence journey.

Incorporate Dance Breaks into Your Routine

Create different playlists that represent different moods. If you have a playlist of songs that make you feel confident, bold or sexy, make that the playlist that you dance to. Taking frequent dance breaks throughout your day can make you feel more confident, and it will also elevate your mood. Plus, who doesn’t love a good playlist that makes you want to strut anywhere you are?

Write Down Your Goals

Having a list of goals is always a healthy thing to practice. If you are trying to build confidence in certain aspects of your life, write down goals that are tied to these parts of your life. Make sure you place these goals somewhere that you look at frequently, so you are always reminded of your goals.

Exercise

Moving your body is great for developing confidence. Exercising boosts confidence and moving your body regularly correlates to having positive self-esteem. Whether you’re running, doing yoga or consistently dancing, these movements can make a big impact on your confidence.

You are already on the road to becoming a better, more confident person. Whether you incorporate a few or all of these techniques into your day, you’re going to see a big difference in your self-esteem.
