How to Give Your Space a Complete Refresh

refresh your space

If you’re getting bored at home with how your space looks then it might be time to go ahead and switch things up. Our taste in décor changes over time, this is something natural, and it happens with theses such as fashion, the taste of music, and interests as well. If you’re wanting to change up your space and make it feel like it’s a brand new home then these tips are going to help you give your room an upgrade, and many of these can easily be done on a budget as well!

Have a Statement Wall

Having a statement wall regardless of the room it’s in, is an easy way to make a big change without too much effort. This could include things such as a gallery wall, wallpaper, a new paint color that complements the rest of the walls, or maybe a wall that has a lot of big furniture lined up against it. If you’re needing an air conditioning contractor, be sure your air conditioner won’t be on your statement wall, or else that will appear cluttered.  Just give yourself some time to experiment around on what would fit best for you.

Fix the Clutter

Do you have a cluttered space? Do your rooms just look far too small? A great solution is to clear the clutter. If you have too much going on in one room, it’s going to make the space appear incredibly small. You may even feel claustrophobic in these spaces because of how small they appear to be. You’ll need to sort through your item and decide what you can part with. This is something that many people consider to be difficult but it’s worth it, in the end, to get rid of unneeded items.

At times clutter can just be how a room is rearranged. If the furniture isn’t spaced out, that clutter will happen. So that could be an option as well, especially if you don’t want to depart with anything.  But in the end, you just want to have a space that is breathable, bright, and comes off as inviting.

Add a Statement Piece

If you’re needing a huge update in your space, you can try going with a statement piece. This helps a lot, especially if your space never truly had a statement piece before. It’s something that helps make a house into a home. So what exactly is a statement piece? These are considered to be large and bold pieces that stand out among the rest, they’re also the finishing touches to a room. You can try an oversized piece of artwork such as a painting, 3D art like a mask or statue. These have the power to not only make a statement, but you bring culture, ambiance, history, and uniqueness into your home. Statement pieces help make the room interesting but also help small rooms appear larger if arranged correctly.

Rearrange Furniture

One of the easiest methods to give a room a completely new look would be to just rearrange the furniture. Rearranging furniture is free and there are often a variety of ways that you can decorate your space.  Trying something new out for your space is a great way to decorate a room and give it a whole new appearance.  You have the power to make this as complex as you like.

Maybe you can try out having an open bookshelf and arrange some books and decorative accents in a tasteful manner. Just use your imagination and take décor from one place to another. Items that have been placed in one spot for such a long time can make the space look a little too stagnant and even boring. You should just arrange your space until you feel like there is some balance between all the colors, furniture, light, and décor in your space.

Replace Fixtures and Fittings

Fixtures and fittings are those small hardware-related items around the house. You’ll mostly find these in the kitchen. These are doorknobs, drawer pulls, cabinet knobs, faucets, curtain rods, and light switches. There are others that could be categorized under this as well. These little changes can make a massive impact. You’d be shocked to see how different a kitchen can look by just having a new faucet. You can often find these for fairly affordable prices at your local hardware store, some home décor stores, and online.

Rearrange the Books

As stated above, you can use your bookshelf for both books and for including decorative accents. If you have a lot of books, you can utilize them as a tool to refresh your space too. Books are perfect for shining a light on your interests and your personality. You have the option of stacking up your books and adding an accent on the top. You could use these as a coffee table book or even something for a side table centerpiece. Books are often neutral enough to blend in, but at the same time, they have the power to bring in some more dimension to the space. If you already own a lot of books, go ahead and use what you already have instead of going out and buying books.

Try Out New Accent Pieces

A very easy way to give a room a complete refresh would be swapping out some of the accent pieces with something else. These could be something very small or even maybe big. One example would be trying out new throw pillow case cushions for your sofa. You can try new colors, designs, shapes, or even fabrics. You can also just add new things rather than switching stuff out. Switching out colored candles and scents is also a wonderful way to change up a room.

Add Some Greenery

Plants have the power to make people feel more happy and productive. Bringing in that touch of nature from the outside has so many benefits and it makes the space look wonderful as well. Whether you are a nurturer or you’re just wanting something easy, there are plants out there for you. You just need to make sure you’re picking some plants that are within your level of care and expertise. Also, you’ll need to consider what is the ideal environment and how your space can accommodate it, such as humidity and sunlight. Plus you can’t forget that you need to check what plants are safe from pets.
