One of the most prominent travel destinations globally, Mexico attracts around thirty-two million international holiday makers per year. It’s not surprising to see why that is either; boasting thousands of miles of coastline, rich ancient Mayan history, cuisine with a kick, and warm weather all year round, Mexico is genuinely a holiday maker’s paradise.

Mexico boasts all the above amenities, but it’s also home to a range of diverse, vibrant cities that are a perfect choice for your next vacation destination. However, many holiday makers opt to visit the well-known tourist traps such as Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Cancún instead of the lesser-known places like Zacatecas, Chiapas, and Puerto Vallarta.

When visiting Puerto Vallarta, a city nestled among mountains and the sparkling blue waters of Bahía de Banderas, travelers can expect to be greeted by a plethora of shops, stylish restaurants, beautiful beaches, and a host of activities. These include horseback riding and diving that are suitable for the old and young alike. Here are a few of our reasons why a Puerto Vallarta vacation should be at the top of your vacation bucket list.

Top-Notch Accommodation

In the Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta, there is an array of accommodation options suitable for a range of different holiday makers, whether you’re a solo traveler or accompanied by your friends or family. One of the most popular accommodation choices for Puerto Vallarta travel is to stay in an all-inclusive resort, of which there are no shortages in this city.

If you’ve stayed all-inclusive before then, you are no stranger to the benefits of these types of resorts. From poolside service, spas, on-site restaurants, and fun activities included in the price, some of the all-inclusive restaurants in Puerto Vallarta also grant holidaymakers easy access to nearby beaches and other amenities.

Whether you enjoy being among the bustle of the city or prefer seclusion, the all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta have locations to suit all sorts of vacation needs. Whether you and your partner are looking for a private getaway in a resort hidden among the Pacific Jungle or planning a girl’s trip and want to be in the middle of the city, we’re sure that the Puerto Vallarta hotels won’t disappoint.

To avoid disappointment when searching for accommodation in Puerto Vallarta, we recommend using hotel/flight comparison sites to ensure that you get the best prices for the dates of your stay and that the hotel you want is available. Puerto Vallarta vacations are incredibly popular, especially during peak season, so ensure that you secure your flights and accommodation as soon as possible!

Feisty, Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Let’s face it, one of the most exciting parts about visiting new places is sampling the different foods of that region. Sometimes going out for food can be some of the strongest memories we make while on vacation, whether it’s a good experience or a bad one! So, it’s essential that you endeavor to sample as much authentic Mexican cuisine as possible while traveling in Puerto Vallarta.

It’s no secret that Mexican food is one of the most delicious cuisines in the world. So, providing that you don’t shy away from a little bit of heat, we’re sure that Puerto Vallarta’s food won’t disappoint. Whether you’re looking to experience authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine such as braised pork, carnitas, and mole from some of the best local restaurants such as Layla’s Restaurant, Casa Tradicional Cocina Mexicana, or La Palapa Restaurant.

Or if you’d prefer to experience some of the staple dishes that Puerto Vallarta is famous for, you’ll find that in the city too. According to locals and tourists alike, some of the must-try foods in Puerto Vallarta are ceviche, birria tacos, micheladas, tacos el pastor, and chilaquiles.

Stunning Beaches

As we mentioned briefly in the introduction, Mexico is home to thousands upon thousands of miles of sparkling blue coastline. Although Mexico has many competitors when it comes to choosing the best beach in the country, from the likes of Playa del Carmen to Cancún, many visitors to Puerto Vallarta consider the beaches to be next level.

Since Mexico is warm all year round, the average temperature in the hottest months reaches around 27 Celsius per day, meaning that you can enjoy the coastline every day. Puerto Vallarta’s beaches boast a hoard of fun activities for visitors, whether you prefer more traditional methods of enjoying the beach such as sunbathing, swimming, walking, etc.

Although it’s essential to know that some of Puerto Vallarta’s most-loved beaches can only be accessed by boats, such as Yelapa, Las Caletas, and Colomitos Beach. So, ensure that you reserve a day of your itinerary if you wish to enjoy any of these beaches. However, if you don’t fancy traveling back and forth between beaches, plenty of beaches don’t require a water taxi to get to, from Conchas Chinas Beach, Los Muertos Beach, and Las Gemelas Beach.

Or if you’d instead enjoy the beauty of the city’s beaches from the comfort of a deckchair in a local beach bar or take advantage of one of the many water sports opportunities that Puerto Vallarta offers, such as jet-skiing, surfing, snorkeling, etc. Whichever way you’d like to enjoy the sun, we can guarantee that Puerto Vallarta’s beaches have an activity for everyone.

Visit The Birthplace Of Tequila

Another essential reason to visit Puerto Vallarta is its proximity to other Mexican cities, making it an ideal vacation destination for those that like to explore and take weekend/day trips to other cities. From San Pancho to Sayulita, there are many beautiful destinations near Puerto Vallarta for visitors to travel back and forth.

However, if you’d like to organize an unforgettable day/weekend away, you could consider traveling to Tequila’s small volcano town, which cultivates the plant from which tequila comes. As well as its iconic, feisty cuisine Mexico is renowned for the alcoholic beverage named tequila, which is produced from the fields of blue agave plants running throughout Mexico.

One of the most effective ways to get from Puerto Vallarta to Tequila is by hiring a rental car that will take about four hours to get there. But if you don’t fancy the additional expense of a rental car, you could investigate lift-share applications, which can help lessen the costs.

Alternatively, you could consider taking a twelve-hour tour between Puerto Vallarta and Tequila, including an entrance fee, hotel pickup, drop-off, breakfast, and tequila tasting. If you don’t opt for the tour option, we strongly suggest turning this into a weekend or overnight visit, as many people visit Tequila to sample some of the beverages named after it.

Bustling Nightlife

Mexico is a well-known city for its bustling nightlife, and Puerto Vallarta is no exception. The Mexican city promises an excellent time to be had by all, whether you’d prefer to spend your night beside the ocean or choose to dance the night away at one of the many LGBTQ-friendly bars in the Zona Romantica.

Or, if you find yourself bar hopping along the boardwalk (also known as Malecon), you could visit some of the most renowned bars in the area, such as Bar Morelos Mezcaleria and Devil’s Bar, or Zoo Bar. All of which are known for loud music, shots, dazzling performers, and bright lights – guaranteed to be an unforgettable night out.
