The ongoing pandemic has influenced all spheres of our lives. We have changed the way we shop, the way we have our first morning coffee (didn’t know you could make such good coffee at home), but it has also significantly changed the way we work and do our daily tasks. Most of us have, for the first time ever, gotten the opportunity to work from home. Thus, we relaxed more than we should have and have even gotten into the habit of saying no to makeup, saying yes to ponytails and buns, as yes to pajamas and hoodies as our work attire.
However, this is not an appropriate look for all kinds of jobs, and especially if you work in management or you have a lot of Zoom meetings with your clients, you should dress accordingly. So, don’t worry, as you can look stylish and be comfortable at the same time, and thus we bring you a few useful tips.
Bright colors are allowed
Although in some typical office settings, minimalistic colors are more welcomed than cheerful ones, this doesn’t apply when working from home. Cheerful nuances, such as orange, green, or even a romantic pink, will brighten your face, making you look refreshed and energized. Don’t be afraid to pop on a lovely orange turtleneck or even a coral cashmere dress. If you don’t have these kinds of colors in your wardrobe, now is the right time to purchase them online.
Additionally, you can opt for some summery dresses if you live in those parts of the world where you are enjoying summer at the moment. For example, you can easily treat yourself and shop some gorgeous, light women’s dresses in Australia, and feel both fashionable and professional while wearing them at your home office. If, on the other hand, you live in the snow-covered areas, bright colors of your work attire will not only serve as a modish distraction from your blank wall but will also have a positive and uplifting effect on your mood. So, before you set up the camera for your next Zoom call, make sure that your background is minimalistic and your outfit elegant, but also bright and happy.
Tweed jacket if you are in a hurry
Preparing breakfast, doing chores, or simply having one of those days when you accidentally sleep in can put you in a situation that you are running late for a work meeting. So, how to look presentable when you only have 5 minutes to get ready? It is quite easy, actually. Put your hair in a sleek, high ponytail, and just use a bit of hairspray. As for makeup, a colorful blush is your best friend when you want to look more energized than you really are. Also, pop on some mascara to make you look more awake.
A Chanel-esque, tweed jacket thrown over a simple, white cotton tee will be the winning outfit in this kind of situation. It is quite easy to style, as it’s already a statement piece on its own, so you don’t have to worry about jewelry. It is also a classic but stylish and modish piece that is completely work-appropriate, even if you work in a more formal environment, such as a law office. Additionally, you can style your tweed jacket of choice with a simple tank top, or if you want to be extra warm, with a nice turtleneck. An important note is that you want all your other outfit pieces to be monochromatic and subtle, so you can even opt for simple black, high-waisted trousers.
Oxford shirt if you want to be unique
A classic white or light blue Oxford shirt may not seem like the most original outfit choice for a business video call, but is it certainly a safe one. Nicely structured, it is formal, just enough not to make you feel uncomfortable while wearing it. You can style it with a pair of dark denim jeans and even get a lovely daytime look.
However, what is great about these kinds of shirts is that they leave plenty of room for accessorizing. Express your own fashion style with an exquisite brooch or a patterned silk scarf. You can always add a maroon or emerald-color blazer jacket over it and match it with a pair of earrings in the same nuance – a quick and chic look, perfect for a stylish businesswoman.
Finally, we can say that it doesn’t take a lot of time and effort to look your best for your next Zoom meeting. With just a bit of effort and creativity, you can become the fashion star of your online office.
